Max’s POV
The house towered over as a shrine of perfection and domination, yet when we entered the drive, I froze to feel its frigid arms holding me at waist level. These snobby pillars and ivy-draped balconies abode had been all that we were taught to adore. Now it was an expectation cage.
Maso sat in the passenger seat, looking determined as ever.
“Are you sure about this?” I turned toward him as I stopped the car.
“Yeah,” he breathed. “We can’t keep living like their puppet forever.”
“You know there’s no turning back after this?”
“We have no choice but to do this.” he placed his hands on my shoulder. “This is the only way to get our lives back from them.”
