Chapter 80. I Missed You More
Ava’s POV
“I swear, Ava…I would have pulled out every hair on her head if I were in Seattle,” Raelynn lost it over the phone.
I switched the phone to the other ear and glanced at Sophie on the living room floor cross-legged amidst crayons that were scattered around her like confetti. She was humming to herself, smudges of pink and blue paint smeared on her hands as she leaned forward to draw a flower.
I gritted my teeth and attempted to smile. “I’m fine. I mean. I’m doing my best to be fine. Honestly, I don’t care about anything else but Sophie and me being okay. That’s all that matters to me.”
“That bitch is the worst,” Raelynn swore again. “How could she even do that to your daughter, God, I’m so angry that I could break something. Are you sure you are okay?”
“Honestly, I’m not,” I confessed, “I’m holding on and hanging on to Sophie. She’s my anchor.”
“You are not alone, Ava,” she said, “You’ve got me. And if Max—”
I cut her off.
