Chapter 93. Will You Marry Me?
Max’s POV
The hall was wide and hummed with the whine of foreign diplomats, business talks, and a glint of camera. The day we have been working so hard for finally came. The Japanese board of directors sat in front of the hall with the name of the bid winner.
My father along with Mason and I leaned back in silence but with evidently strained breathing. We’d battled too long for this to go to someone else. “They better not drag this whole thing,” muttered Mason to himself.
I remained quiet and kept my eyes fixed on the stage. Mr. Saito, head of the Japanese delegation, walked out and dropped the mic. “Good afternoon. Thanks to all the bidding companies for their interest in working with us.”
Dad inched a little nearer to me. “You okay? You look nervous.”
“I just want it over,” I said.
Mason mouthed a snort, growling soundlessly. “You? Nervous? That’s new.”
I shot him a look. “Don’t jinx this.”
Time moved at the speed of light.
