Chapter 86. Out of the Mirror
“We’re inside you.”
The words crackled through the dark of Harper’s private suite, thrown against the glass by an unknown voice—neither Knox nor Lucien, but cold, deliberate, familiar.
Harper froze, breath suspended. Knox turned from pouring coffee, eyes snapping to her expression.
“Who—”
Before she could finish, the lights dimmed. The city’s glow beyond the window warped, then refocused. A holo-screen shimmered to life in the corner of the room — sharp angles illuminating a name: “Selene Morrow.”
Harper’s jaw tightened. Selene, the strategist who’d once brokered peace between Harper and the Third Heir. The only person who had known Ledger’s dark edges in almost the same depth Harper had. How had she accessed this space?
Knox moved to her side. “What is this?”
Selene’s image filled the holo—her stature unflinching. She didn’t smile.
“You taught them to watch. Now they see us all,” Selene said. Her voice was soft, but bitten with steel.
