Chapter 7. Did She Sell Me?

Eve blinked her eyes in disbelief at what she had just heard, an old friend offering to help. Maira wanted to help her? She could hardly believe it. 

In the midst of her confusion about all the problems that were choking her that made her chest hurt, Maira's help was like an oasis in the desert. Her burden seemed to be lifted from her shoulders. And she didn't expect it to come from a friend she hadn't even seen in a long time. Eve felt very grateful to God for helping her by sending Maira to her. 

"Really?" Eve took her best friend's hand and started kissing it "Thank you, Mai! I promise to return it to you as soon as possible! I promise!" she continued kissing the back of her hand with emotion. Eve even stood up to hug her little friend.
