Author’s POV

Leo coughed after that statement and muttered, “Sorry.”

Zoey’s jaw dropped. She looked between her parents, expecting them to say something—anything—but they remained silent.

Charlotte continued.

“Secondly, Zoey, I love to eat. You know that, everyone in this room knows that, and he knows that and loves me that way. Actually… you should eat more, little sister. Your collarbone is as deep as a fish bowl.”

Charlotte concluded by boldly licking her fingers, then gave Zoey a death glare as their eyes locked, followed by a sly smirk.

Leo couldn’t hold it—he laughed out loud. When he realized all eyes were on him, he quickly covered it with another cough, muttering, “Sorry.”

“Drink some water, dear,” Charlotte said, offering him a glass.

Leo dramatically accepted as she held the glass to his lips and gently let him sip.

Robert and Mei exchanged glances; both could see how furious Zoey was.

“Aren’t you going to say an
