I walked back to the car and found Charlotte fidgeting in the passenger seat, her fingers twisting nervously in her lap, her eyes darting everywhere except at me.

She looked so fragile, and I could feel the storm of emotions inside her.

“You’re… fidgeting,” I said softly, my voice breaking through her anxious thoughts.

She let out a breath I hadn’t heard her take before.

“I… I’m scared, Leo,” she admitted, her words almost a whisper. “I don’t know what they’ll think of me… how they’ll judge me. I—” She paused, biting her lower lip, and I could see the conflict in her eyes. “I don’t want to embarrass you… or myself.”

I reached over, gently cupping her hand in mine.

“Charlotte,” I said firmly, looking her in the eyes, “none of that matters. You are the most important person in this company right now. The most important. Every other thing—they don’t count. Today, promise me you will carry yourself as someone worthy of admiration, because yo
