“Guys, stop fighting,” I said softly.
Both of them paused, still glaring at each other like stubborn children.
I glanced around the living room, suddenly aware of the missing presence. “What about Olive? Where is she?”
“She went to the convenience store to get some stuff,” Emma replied. “She’ll be back soon.”
My shoulders slumped slightly.
“I hope she understands why I lied to her about Leo,” I murmured.
“Leo?” Angela asked, her brows lifting.
“Yeah. My boyfriend.”
“Oh—the Mystery guy she told me about,” Angela said slowly. “She said you were a betrayal. And a liar.”
The words stung, even though I’d expected them.
“I didn’t mean to betray her trust,” I said, my voice quieter now.
Angela waved it off. “She’s always like that. Very possessive when she likes someone. Honestly, I don’t see the big deal. Emma had a crush on that guy too, and she’s not going crazy just because he’s your boyfriend.”
