The phone number was supposed to be the first thing, how could I have missed that?
My chest tightened, bitterness and fear clawing at me. I switched to the credit card app, scanning for any transactions—coffee, food, anything—that might hint at her location.
Nothing.
She hadn’t used the card.
Does she hate me that much? What’s she so afraid of? Did she even eat lunch? Is she starving herself?
My thoughts spiraled.
What if something happened?
What if she got lost? Or hurt? What if she hated how the audition went and ran?
What if she decided to leave?
What if she’s not coming back?
I dragged a hand through my hair, pacing.
God, why the hell did I let her go alone?
A sharp pain lanced through my temple. I rubbed at it, gritting my teeth.
Caring about someone was exhausting. My blood pressure had to be through the roof by now.
“I should’ve gone with her,” I muttered.
