My eyes widened in disbelief, but my heart felt lighter knowing it didn’t turn out to be a stranger.

He got down from his motorcycle and hurriedly walked up to me while pulling his jacket off.
As he got closer, my breath hitched.
His face was battered—lip split, cheekbone swelling, faint smudges of dried blood marking his temple.
But even broken, even bruised, he was… breathtaking.
The kind of sight that hurt to look at, not because of the injuries, but because of the way his eyes—stormy, burning, vulnerable—were locked on me.
Before I could say anything, his jacket was over me, its warmth came with memories of him covering me with the jacket, the embarrassment in the plane, and the Valentine’s night.
