He doesn’t say anything. His eyes merely smile while his lips twitch a little.

Spreading my arms wide, I embrace him, heaving out all the tension in my bones as his warm hold injects relief into my system.
The tears hanging in my eyes all night finally slip down, along with more that were triggered by the presence of comfort.
“Let’s get out of here,” Christopher whispers.

I could have followed mom to the hospital to make sure she’s okay, but right now I just want to step away from everything, for the sake of my sanity.

My seat is tilted backward and I’m relaxed in it, but I still see most of the movement, though I can’t quite place the wordings in their chant.
