Fallon’s POV

[Flashback continues]

We waited, accessing each other and trying to pick out who we thought would be a tough opponent.

Our faces and numbers were displayed on a big screen.

“Step forward and pick a ball.”

We did as instructed, picking any of the ping balls. There was nothing on the ball at first. I turned it around, hoping to catch where any inscription was made. Then, slowly, inscriptions began glowing on it.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw the number written on it. It meant having time to watch the others.

Since we were eight, it meant the first round would host four duels, and the second round would comprise two. The remaining two would duel in the third round.

The problem, however, was knowing who your opponent would be. It wouldn’t also be a hidden fact that all of us had to be good. For us to make it that far meant we were the best of the best, and it was bound to be bloody.
