Fallon’s POV
I replayed the words in my head. She couldn’t be joking, not with her conviction-stricken face. Her eyes meant every single word and burned with determination. Not determination to help me, but determination to reach the goal she had set out.
“You want to use me for your gain,” the words left my mouth with no filter.
She shrugged. “I don’t see it that way. I’m merely asking us to join forces in ridding ourselves of a common enemy. You get to reunite with your family, and I get to savor the taste of true freedom.”
A heart filled with love can quickly cross the thin valley to hatred, and there would be no going back.
