Later in the day, when he asked Leon about Antoine’s regular haunts, Leon named a few bars and public houses where he had run into Antoine in the past.
Pierre felt bad hiding things, but he didn’t tell his mentor what had happened with Antoine because he was sensible enough to know that Leon might not approve of his erotic activities with another man. Leon was wrapped up in his work on his sculpture, anyway, and didn’t notice the dreamy look on Pierre’s face for the whole afternoon as he thought about Antoine at his easel. Pierre couldn’t wait to see him again.
Over the next two weeks, he searched the relevant night places that Antoine liked, but Antoine was nowhere to be found. By the time the third week had come around, Pierre felt abandoned and depressed, assuming that Antoine had left for more travels...without a care for the man that he had left behind.
How could he kiss him like that and seem to care about him, then disappear? Pierre wanted to see Antoine m
