Chapter 91

The sun had gone down, no trace of it left in the sky and now, they stars had begun to come out, twinkling in the dark sky. After the long day at work, other officers had left, but Martinez had waited behind for Tom as they had another one of their home investigation meetings. When Tom was done closing up, he and Martinez both shut down the office and left for Tom’s house.

Together, they took in the stroll of the town as they walked home. Their movements, side by side and slowly, almost like they were staggering.

They were getting close to Tom’s place and just a few houses away. Tom took his phone out of his pocket and dialed Lisa’s number while he blushed, unintentionally.

Martinez tries looking at Tom’s phone to see who he was trying to call, but Tom wouldn’t let her. “You know I don’t need to look at your phone to know who you’re calling, right?” Martinez said.

“And who might that be?” Tom asked.

“I know it’s Lisa you’re calling, silly.” Martinez sai
