Chapter 62

I slowly turned my head toward the dresser. The drawer was still closed, but the box he left was sitting pretty there. I rubbed the back of my neck out of exhaustion, and I wished I had not.
The whole memory came flooding again. I could still feel the ghost of his breath against my neck, the way his fingers had rested just below my collarbone, and how again, nothing more had happened. Just two adults intensely tempting themselves, but no one was willing to take the first move.
The dream had been vivid enough to make my thighs tighten under the covers, and even now, while standing, that feeling was still heavy.
I hated that it stayed with me, hated even more how needy my body was and how much it could overshadow my brain. And I knew it wasn’t going to be too long anymore. The dam would break open, soon.
I got out of bed, walked to the drawer, and opened the box.
