Nicholas's POV

“You didn't show up for the blind date with the former mayor's daughter.” My father's displeased voice cuts through the silence of the quiet dining room.

Ugh, here we go again.

My mother looks up from her food. “Gavin, why would you set up a blind date for my son?”

A shocked look appears on my father's face as he realizes his mistake. Mother doesn't like the idea of arranging marriages as practiced by the other wealthy families. 

“Uh, honey, that's because he won't date anyone, and I am worried about him.”

“I am running our family's company. Of course, I don't have time for dating anyone.”

“And you too,” My mom turns her attention to me. “Why are you not dating anyone?”

“He is playing around,” Father mutters under his breath.

“You all should let him be.” My grandmother's, Camilla Lorenzo, voice filters in as she walks in, my younger sister, Loren, following behind.

“Brandy, how are you?”
