Natalie’s POV

“So what is it going to be? Find a man in two days, and he can stand in as Zenith's dad, or just tell Mason! He would be more than happy to help.” Her voice rises with excitement as it filters out of my phone’s speaker.

I chuckle at my best friend Chloe's suggestion and drop the phone on the nightstand.

“Chloe, that's absurd. Mason is just my neighbor, and Zenith knows that's not his dad.”

“Mason is your neighbor who is interested in you.” Chloe drawls in a sing-song voice. “And your baby daddy is a deadbeat. Who hasn't visited their son since his third birthday party? He is so lucky I have never met him. I would give him a piece of my mind.”

“Uh, he is a very busy man and sends us money every month for Zenith’s upkeep.”
