The drive to Adrian’s house was suspiciously fast like the universe itself was determined to shove me straight into disaster before I had time to rethink all my life choices.

As Liam pulled into the long, long driveway, I inhaled deeply, willing myself to relax. This was fine. Everything was fine. It was just a party. A birthday party. At my ex’s house. For his child’s mother who had no love lost for me.
