I was running so fast my legs were shaking like they didn’t even belong to me anymore, branches slapping against my arms., I wouldn’t stop, not with Damon’s blood all over my hands, not with his voice still in my head saying run, kitten, like he knew this was the only chance I had to make it out alive.

I couldn’t even see properly anymore because my tears were everywhere, burning my eyes, running down my face in hot, messy streams, and every time I blinked it just made the whole forest smear together.

I kept hearing things, shouts behind me, feet pounding against the ground, the low snap of branches breaking somewhere too close and I was gasping so loud it sounded like screaming, like the air was getting shoved into my lungs with knives.

My wolf was in my head the whole time and she was panicking so bad it made me panic more because she was supposed to be the brave one, the instinct, the strength, but right now her voice was shaking just like mine
