Chapter 157. Epilogue, Part 2

Maggie POV

The loud yet pleasant sounds of the city fade as we travel farther into the country. It’s about an hour’s drive to Ethercrest, and our home is on its outskirts, so I sit back and relax, enjoying the beautiful countryside.

Everything is in bloom right now. Purple, red, and yellow flowers blanket the hillsides. There are even a few trees with pink blossoms left over from late spring.

We pass the town, and Oscar waves at some of the people he knows there. I join in the greetings, though I don’t feel like a local just yet. I know it will come in time. Everyone smiles when we pass. It seems like good people live here.

Finally, we head toward our farmstead, and Oscar’s stomach lets out a growl.

It makes me laugh. “I guess I’d better get started on dinner as soon as we get home.”
