Chapter 210. Rebel Battle
The Dune camp reeked of flesh and the blood of corpses that littered its grounds. Flames burned the tents, and smoke rose from destroyed structures into the night sky. Dune soldiers — and the rebels who had chosen to side with Arthur — had all been slaughtered. Other fighters scoured the wreckage, searching for weapons and armour that were still in usable condition.
All the rebel leaders who had chosen to fight with Arthur against Lady Meredith were brought to their knees and beheaded. All but one.
Arthur’s gasps for air could be heard from a distance. Pieces of his armour lay scattered across the ground; the leather and cotton beneath had been ripped to shreds, exposing his upper body.
A blade pressed against his throat, just under his chin, and was used to slowly tilt his battered face up.
