Chapter 230. The Queen

Angel’s endless research into the royal family of Andreia led her to an old town just beyond Andreian territory. The sun hung high over a sprawl of low wooden buildings set in a wide circle around a still central pool. The people wore mostly brown linen, and like the Backends, the town was populated by farmers who did not need to leave their homes to look for food.

Angel threaded through the town on horseback, her eyes shifting from one civilian to the next as they stared at her. Her clothes, and the white horse she rode, spoke clearly of her nobility and drew the attention of every passerby.

After several minutes moving through the streets, she reached the centre of the town. She stopped beside the large pool and dismounted, scanning her surroundings as people gathered, gawking at her as though someone of noble blood had never set foot in their town before.

“Where is your leader? I need to speak to him,” Angel called out.

The townspeople began murmur
