Jessie sat on the chair, wearing a silk robe, her legs crossed, in the studio as makeup brushes swept over her cheekbones.

A stylist fluffed her hair, another dabbed highlighter on her collarbone.

The director stepped into the room with a clipboard in hand, his eyes scanned the room.

“She’s not here yet,” he muttered.

“Hello director, what’s up?” Jessie said teasing.

“We’ll be needing a couple photoshoot setup today. One of the models will be paired with you and she’s not here yet. Please be patient.”

Jessie nodded without glancing up. “No problem.”

She wanted to ask who the model would be but she waved it off as not necessary.

Suddenly, the glass door swung open with a soft whoosh.

“Sorry I’m late, everyone.”

Heads turned.

It was Kathy. They all looked shocked.

What caught everyone off guard wasn’t just her entrance—it was the apology. Kathy never apologized.
