Chapter 79. The Gift

“Hey,” said Julia, her hand rising to signal Luke to stop the wheelchair. Keira didn’t react. She wasn’t going to pretend to be friendly or anything. She remained silent and stared at the contemporary paintings neatly displayed along the hospital hallways.

“Hey,” replied Ben, his eyes darting between Julia and Luke Bracey. There was a question mark in his head.

“I asked Luke to look after me because you seem very busy with her,” said Julia lightly.

Keira snorted, “I’m his wife. You have a problem with that?” she couldn’t stop answering. “Kei!” snapped Ben, still terrified that Julia might make a second suicide attempt. Keira fell silent, annoyed that Ben had snapped at her in front of Julia and Luke. She cast her gaze at Julia and secretly promised in her heart that she would reveal her lie.

“Ben, I’m getting out of the hospital tonight. Can we meet before I go home?” Julia suddenly opened her mouth.

“Yeah, I’ll be in your room later,” replied Ben flat
