JULIA

The time came for Cindy to leave for the airport. Adele would take her, Brianna still asleep. All of the people awake came to say goodbye. She was their sister slave now, one of them. I was pleased to see Lucia and Shasta both hugging her goodbye. Perhaps she would be forgiven at some point for loving her brother. Cindy hugged each of us as well, whispered words exchanged with each of us.

To me she said, "I'm so glad I came to visit and you were willing to share your husband with me. It's filled a hole in my heart that's been there for a long time."

"You're welcome, sister. We love you. It's good to have you back in our lives." We kissed. "I don't envy you the next month. It's going to be hard."

"I'll survive."

"Of course you will."
