I went up to Master and Jerry and asked, "Janet was curious and wishes to see Lisa and Reneé disciplined."

Jerry said he didn't care, but Master looked concerned. He approached Janet with me trailing after him.

"Julia said you wished to watch. Do you really want to see two slaves get punished?"

"I'm curious," she admitted. "They seem so blasé about it, when it seems so strange and even contemptible to me."

"I'm not afraid of showing you for myself," Master said, "but I doubt Chen wants you to witness the stranger behaviors of his friends, thinking they might taint your opinion of him when he has nothing to do with this other than remain our friends despite our behavior."
