They called me observant. My answer to that was always ‘that’s because I’m a writer.’ But that was not the whole truth. People were easy to read and I paid a lot of attention. I liked noticing details that no one else sees. So I knew that Axel was lying to me when he said he

couldn’t come over today. It was easy to spot a lie. It was the way he hesitated to answer my question. He told me I was just overthinking it. Maybe I was, but my overthinking always helped me avoid certain situations. I like to overanalyze situations because I’m scared of what will happen when I’m not prepared for it. If overthinking situations burned calories, I would be dead.

“I can’t come over today, Noodles,” He had told me over the phone earlier today. “I’m kind of busy today.”

“Busy with what?” It was the festival of colors today and I felt like going out and having a good time. I have been studying non-stop the past few days and I really needed a break.
