Chapter 11

FEYRE

"Hi," I greet, my voice sounds slightly breathless. I clear my throat and give him my award-winning smile.

"Hey," Dylan flashes a perfect smile.

"I came to find you and you were gone." He looks over my shoulder at the staircase.

"I-err," I didn't think of a lie. Fast, think! "I came to find you but you weren't here so I went downstairs, you weren't there either." I speak in a rush.

He looks a little unconvinced but he doesn't say anything.

"I think I would call it a night now. Bye." I don't wait for his response before walking to my room.

Safely tucked inside, I rest my back against the door and let out a heavy breath.

I learned two lessons from my little escapade. Running up multiple flights of stairs isn't really an easy job and eavesdropping is bad, you always end up hearing things you don't want to.

My mind is running with questions like, Who is Gracie? What did she do to Alpha Zade? Why is he so against having a mate?<
