Chapter 2
Lyon's POV
Three months ago – July, 2017.
Everyone is staring at me.
Is there something wrong with me?
I'm dressed like a normal enough, just like an ordinary human. Besides, our werewolves have been following human trends.
But from the looks of these girls staring at me, it isn't for negative reasons.
This is my first day as a transfer student in this school. Since my father officially handed me over Black Fire's pack, I had to move to New York. Yeah, it's quite exciting; I finally became an Alpha.
But...
I am still looking for my mate. It's been over three months since I turned 18, and the result is still the same. None of the women in Black Fire's pack or any other pack indicate that they are my mate.
"Come on, stop worrying. Maybe you'll find your mate here."
"Seriously, Zeo? Everyone in this school is just ordinary humans; there are no werewolves. I've done the investigation. We're the only pack living in this area."
However, I needed to be corrected. My steps halt, and my eyes fixate on a girl with long brown hair standing before a locker.
"Lyon! She's your mate!"
Yes, what my wolf said is true. The girl in front of me is my mate. How is that possible?
She smiles at me. Beautiful. Physically, she's undoubtedly attractive. But she's not a werewolf. Is The Moon Goddess making a mistake?
"Why are you just standing there? Hurry, go after her and talk to her, Lyon. You've got the answer to your worries."
"No, I'm sure this is a big mistake. I can't possibly have a mate who is a human."
"Hey, Dude!"
A guy appears, putting his arm around the girl and greeting me. They walk away and enter the classroom. From their demeanor, he was probably her boyfriend, thinking I was trying to flirt with her.
"You doubt The Moon Goddess, Lyon?"
"I don't know. That girl even has a boyfriend. And they're in the same class as me, so I won't risk telling her about this mate thing. Besides, I don't want anyone to know about my identity as a werewolf."
The bell rang, accompanying my steps as I walked down the hallway toward the classroom. That girl , named Theressa, was sitting in front, looking serious as she read her book. Once again, I felt a strong feeling, unchanged—she's still my mate.

"Lyon, wake up! How long are you going to sleep?!"
I was greeted by heavy rain as I opened my eyes. I did not know how long I had been asleep, but the classroom was empty. Math class was making me sick.
"How long was I asleep?"
"For an hour! Now we're stuck here. I told you we should've used the car, but you insisted on using your motorcycle."
"Shut up, Zeo. Can't you stop being such a nagging wolf? Just relax; we'll wait for the rain to stop."
My phone kept ringing. Dozens of messages came from the class group. As a regular student, I always shared my number for educational purposes.
Theressa's name caught my attention in the group. She announced a competition for wise students who enjoyed reading, just like her. I opened Theressa's profile picture, where she had a selfie with her boyfriend.
This was strange. Even just looking at her photo, my instincts still strongly considered her as my mate.
"Why don't you try reaching out to her? To get to know her, you've only just found your mate; don't you want to know more about her?"
I ignored my wolf's suggestion and chose to leave this silent classroom. The empty, slightly dark hallway made the school feel like a rogues den.
However, I heard a strange sound a few steps away from my classroom. The sound of a woman laughing.
Werewolf instincts and our hearing are very sharp. So even though the rain was pouring heavily, I could hear that laughter. It came from the art room near my classroom.
A slightly open gap showed me that the woman laughing was with Brian, Theressa's boyfriend.
"Wow, isn't this strange? They're alone together! I think Brian is cheating on her with that woman. This is your chance to get your mate! The Moon Goddess has truly orchestrated this story perfectly!"
"Shut up, Zeo. You better stop talking about my mate. I'm sick of hearing it."
"That's unimportant; they’re kissing! it is much more interesting! Don't you want to take a photo and give it to Theressa?"
"No."
I walked away, leaving behind the sight of two passionate young people and their activities, heading towards the school's front terrace. Just because Theressa is my mate doesn't mean I will chase after her and report personal matters about her relationship with Brian.
"You're fool, Lyon! Desperate! Maybe you're forever destined to be a solitary Alpha without a partner!"
"Why are you so crazy, Zeo? All day long, you've been urging me to talk to Theressa. You're so impatient! What are you thinking?!"
"Hi, New student!"
I turned to the source of the voice, and there stood Brian, accompanied by the woman he had been affectionate with within the art room. She looked so worries while Brian appeared calm and approached me.
"Why haven't you gone home, new student?"
"Rain."
Brian embraced me, gripping my shoulder tightly, whispering, "I know you're new to this school. But what you've seen now is your secret. Never tell anyone, including Theressa. I think you understand; youthful desires are hard to control."
"I'm not interested in other people's affairs."
"Great, that makes you look even more handsome. Women in this school are starting to talk about you; you'll easily get whoever you want. And if you're unsure, you can contact me later. I'll introduce you to this school's beautiful and best women!"
Those disgusting words made the environment uncomfortable to hear. The heavy rain suddenly stopped, and I raised an eyebrow at him before walking toward the parking lot.
"I'll wait for your news, new student!" Brian shouted.
"Gross! Look, someone like him is completely bad for Theressa! Are you sure you'll let your mate suffer with him?! Are you sure, Lyon?"
I remained unmoved.
