Epseba had been put on bed rest by Tornwell since they got back. The maids brought him his food and everything he needed, and he actually enjoyed the rest.
The early sleep he had when they got back rejuvenated his sore muscles and helped with his slight dizziness.
That morning, Tornwell had called for a doctor to come check up on him to see if he would truly be fine.
“Follow the light,” the doctor said. He had a tiny torch pointed at the middle of his eyes, moving it around from top to bottom. He then pointed it at his eyeballs to notice their reactions to the light.
The doctor checked several areas of his body, then stopped; he forgot to check his hearing. “When you got hit in the head, you heard a loud ring, correct?” the doctor asked.
“Correct,” he replied. His mission that morning was to be as compliant as possible for Tornwell’s sake.
