Chapter 365
Brandon turned just in time to hear Jessica’s voice, but her words made his stomach tighten.
“I didn’t know you were the new CEO,” she muttered, pushing herself up from the chair with a sigh.
Then, with a smirk that didn’t quite reach her eyes, she added, “Well-deserved position. At least now we know the company is in safe hands.”
Her tone was off—sharp, deliberate.
Brandon’s brows furrowed. Safe hands? What the hell did she mean by that?
“Jessica?” he called, suspicion creeping into his voice. “Jessica, wait. Jessssiiccaa—”
But she didn’t stop.
She strolled out of the house, her pace calm and unbothered, but there was something unsettling about the way she smiled.
Like she knew something he didn’t.
Brandon clenched his fists, heat rising up his neck. Damn it. She had said that just to get under his skin, and it was working.
Meanwhile, Jessica reached her car and slid inside, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.
