Chapter 49
"I don't know man. It sounded urgent," Cory added.
Asher's gaze fell back on me, hesitating for a second. "I'll be back," He muttered softly, holding my gaze for a deep second before leaving with Cory.
As soon as the door closed, I fell on the bed, burying my face in my palms as I fought the tears that wanted freedom from my eyes. And the more I thought about everything that had happened in the last few days, I just couldn't help myself, and effortlessly, the tears rushed out from the jammed gate of my eyes.
I didn't stop crying. I cried, releasing the suffocation I felt deep in my chest, but I couldn't get rid of the pain that seemed rooted in there. There was something about everything that was going on between Asher and me that made me sadder.
I curled my body on the bed, taking in long deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves and the exercise worked. It was calming.
I didn't know when I dozed off.
