Chapter 21
Anna smiled softly despite her tears. “You seem to always be gasping at everything I’ve been saying lately.”
“Well, can I help gasping if everything you say is gasp-inducing?” Heather replied, her mouth quickly going back to its shocked ‘o’ position.
Anna shrugged, not saying anything.
It became clear to Heather that she would have to drag information out of her best friend. “So who is this other person?” Heather asked, drawing out the last two words of her question as if they were a swear of some sort. “Do they work with him or something?”
Anna shook her head. “She works with Ethel, actually. Her name is Charlaine, and she’s gorgeous! You should see her. You will eventually because she’s my new roommate.”
Heather’s mouth dropped open again. “At this rate, your jaw is going to fall off,” Anna laughed. Heather was glad she was finding humor in this horrible predicament.
