Chapter 203
Alyssa POV
Everything hurts.
Not just my stomach—though that’s the worst of it. A twisting, white-hot cramp low in my pelvis that comes in waves like contractions.
But my chest hurts too.
Like it’s collapsing in on itself.
Like it’s already too late.
I hear voices. Too many. All blurred. Too loud and too far at the same time.
I think I’m on a stretcher. Lights streak overhead, bright and sterile and wrong.
I try to curl up, to hold my babies inside me, but my arms feel like they’re made of cement.
Where are they?
Where are my men?
The last thing I remember is King cradling me in the car, Mason’s soft voice in my ear, Niko on the phone with Dr. Summers, giving him updates in a voice I barely registered through the static in my head.
“Stay with me, kitten.”
That voice.
King.
Warm fingers brush the hair from my face. His voice is frayed at the edges.
He sounds... scared.
My King
