Chapter 53
Alyssa POV
Inside the elevator, the déjà vu feeling creeps back in. I look around, trying to figure out where I’ve seen something like this before.
Isaac’s law firm? No.
“Alyssa,” Gray’s voice snaps me out of it, and when I turn to look at him, for a split-second, I swear I see him as a kid, standing in exact same spot—nine, maybe ten years old.
What the hell?
“Why are you staring at me like that?” he asks, raising a brow.
I shake my head, still freaked out. “Oh, nothing,” I mumble, trying to ignore the strange sensation crawling under my skin.
How have I been here before?
His gaze narrows, but he lets it go. “I hope you weren’t too afraid down there.”
I shrug. “Nope. I put together a gun in like thirty seconds, so I think they were actually somewhat impressed.”
From the corner of my eye, I see Niko smirk.
A shadow crosses Gray’s face, but he only hums in response. “Do you know why I wanted you here today?”
