“Sam… no… no,” Adrian whispered.
“Adrian, can you open your eyes? You’re in the hospital, but don’t move, okay? You have a chest tube in. The doctor will be here soon,” Sam explained.
The nurse walked in. “Is our patient awake?”
“I think so. He was trying to talk and seems like he’s more aware,” Sam replied.
“Keep talking to him. Let him hear your voice,” the nurse replied.
“Adrian? It’s Sam. Can you open your eyes?” Sam asked.
“Sam?” he whispered.
It took multiple tries, but he managed to open his eyes. The nurse got him some water and left to call the doctor.
“What happened?” he rasped.
