Chapter 2

Alexa’s POV

I slowly lift my eyes to the receptionist in front of me, then back to the screen. Then suddenly, my wolf turned into a deep, overpowering aura which completely filled the whole space. It was like being in the middle of nowhere the moment the atmosphere changed. A sweet, charming scent filled into my nostrils, Alphas often have this strong, alluring scent but this wasn't just alluring, it took my mind back to five years ago. Then my baby was taken away from me and that's the last time I ever heard of her.

I drop my face on my palms, shaking my head. I'm tormented by this scent but I quickly realize I'm here for a job, I didn't have to let emotions from the past set control over me. I have time to grieve about this later on in private.

"Oh! You're here? Turn around, let me see you!" A strong, commanding voice looms in the air. My muscles are stiff.

Slowly I turn around, keeping my face mid-air, I can't hold it high to avoid looking directly into the face of one of my new bosses which I suppose.

“Look up!”

My eyes formed an image of an agile, muscular man standing on the stairs. I let some air into my mouth in a rush. “Don't get me repeating myself.” I hear him speak, this time the sound is so cold and distant. I can't help but be open as against the ethics of not looking face to face at an Alpha. My lips fumble and I feel my legs begin to tremble.

“Avelon Pack has seven Alphas. This must be my crush speaking.” I tell myself, my wolf leaps in excitement. She always reacts each time I have fond thoughts about Dustin. Since my baby was taken away from me by force prior to the order of the Alpha of my pack, I never had any liking for a man, I just saw all of them as being the same. An Alpha was a no-go area in terms of matters of the heart for me.

Well Dustin was the only exception, the reason I'm feeling tingles in my stomach right now.

My eyes meet with its greatest shock upon raising my eyes to see a young, hot and charming man with a sleeveless fan-support Jersey of Rockstar, the VIP version of his.

“Wooh!” My lips pull slowly apart as I raise my hand to cover my lips. My eyes blinked several times in reflex.

“This must be him!”

Butterflies dance in my stomach as I stare at him, my luggage handle slowly falling from my hand. He's sure to be in his mid-twenties but with a mature face, his charming blue eyes looking at me like the ocean waves coming to capture me. The hairs on his head are short and curly, some falling over the side of his face. My eyes run from his face to his body, his abs strain against the fitting blue Jersey he wears, his arms strong and curvy like the work of an artist fully exposed since he's wearing a sleeveless.

My eyes rush over to his lower part, he stands like the ever-agile hero ready to rescue his princess. He has a pair of black trousers and black palms on his feet. My eyes returned to his face upon this sightseeing.

I immediately courtesy after realizing myself and that this should probably be one of the Alphas. I let out a slight smile as I was told.

“Are you from the village?” He asks somewhat sternly.

“Huh?” His eyes cascades down on me with a terrible look. First of all I'm confused with his question. “What do you me-”

“Oooh!”

"Good morning, Alpha--" I stammer, remembering that greeting is supposed to be the first before curtseying. I clear my throat in an effort to ease my mistake.

"Good morning, Alpha." I greet again as he didn't reply to my first. His eyes are still stern with his lips twitched.

I watch as he steps from the stairs down to where I stand, his strong, manly scent overpowering me. His charming blue eyes come up stronger and more dominant. I fight hard to maintain a gaze with him, this being one of the confidence etiquette. My mind ripples with worry as I watch him staring at me with curiosity laced with a frown.

I begin to wonder what I did wrong. My eyes blink in reflex as I continue to stare at him. As the stare got too long, I began to hope for the worst. But Dennis isn't like this on the TV, he's so cool and friendly, always chatting and joking with fans. I'm now kinda forcing myself to believe that some celebrities aren't who they are on TV.

"Well, I can't blame myself if he doesn't like me and sends me back but with this feeling rippling in my chest. Why's my wolf getting all excited upon the harsh treatment." This is a question I have to ask myself because since he came into this hall, even though I didn't see him walking in, my wolf and heart seems to go awol. It's going crazy without my permission.

"Not everyone likes you, and it's perfect that way." I say to myself.

"Who told you I'm an Alpha?" My heart drops, I turn my head slowly towards the receptionist, her gaze falls.

"It was a slip of the tongue sir," she mutters.

"I've said time without number, do not get to reveal our identities but since I don't like her, she would be going." This he says as the receptionist is about to pass my new ID to me. My brows arch up, my legs vibrate as I hear this. The receptionist's hand remained in mid-air with the ID she wanted passing to me.

He gently shoves her hand away from me.

"The ID can only be given if you are accepted by us!" He says straight into my face and walks off with one hand in his trouser pocket.

I stand here, quite confused, trailing my eyes to whichever direction he's going.
