Chapter 71. The Rumor

Genevieve’s POV

I came down from the cab and walked towards the front door still feeling upset. I wasn’t upset because of what Audrey said. In fact, I had no idea why I was upset which was frustrating. Everyone knew how Nolan was. I can’t even recognize myself anymore. The ‘me’ a year ago would never have allowed him to come anywhere close to her. I know he has said on several occasions that he fell for me and he wasn’t like that anymore and I believed him which scared me a lot because I haven’t also been exactly truthful to him.

I opened the door with my key and walked in. I met Mum sitting on the couch and watching a TV show. We didn’t exactly speak last night when I got back. She was in her room and I didn’t want to disturb her.

"Good evening mum," I greeted politely.

"Evening Gen. How was school?" she asked weakly. I frowned. She didn’t sound like her usual self.

"Is something wrong mum?" I inquired walking close
