Chapter 80. Unexpected Letter

She didn't know how long they waited to ensure the rogues would leave. James didn't say anything. He was closing his eyes while they tried to listen to their surroundings.

“You're my master, but you didn't even try to fight with them. I'm thinking, why you didn't do it?” Veronica whispered. She was panting as she couldn't breathe properly because of the space in the cave.

James glared at her but held her arms. He tightened his grip on her hand. “We need to go back to the safe house. You can't breathe properly.” He muttered.

“I'm fine. I'm just thinking, why you didn't fight with them?” Veronica didn't want to stop until she finally got her desired answer. She was curious, for she knew how James knew how to fight.

“You are with me. I don't want to gamble to fight with them while you run with me.” James answered. She was dumbfounded. Does it mean she was a burden in his eyes? She heard her wolf growling in anger.
