Chapter 171. A Cold Shower

I lingered by the bike for a moment, staring at the ground as my thoughts spun. Tonight was important—far more important than my own inner turmoil. I had a mission, a purpose. And yet, I could not seem to shake the tangled mess of emotions inside me. 

Darco may have caught my attention and may have seemed to be messing with my head and emotions but I needed to remember that he was not a good person. He was far from that. 

I needed that to be imprinted at the back of my mind so I wouldn’t even be tempted to do anything stupid with him. I needed to be reminded every time that I found myself losing myself over him that he was a murderer. 

Taking a deep breath, I straightened my shoulders and headed toward the mansion. The sprawling stone structure loomed ahead, its imposing presence a stark reminder of the life I was now entangled in. 

Each step felt heavier as I approached, the weight of my responsibilities pressing down on me.
