I picked up my fork and toyed with the edge of the plate, my appetite a distant echo of what t should have been. The anxiety clawed at me, relentless and sharp, making the simple act of eating feel monumental. 

Darco’s presence did not help. Even though he seemed preoccupied with his meal, there was an undeniable intensity about him. He moved with efficiency, his movements sharp and purposeful, as if every second was calculated. 

I tried not to let my gaze linger on him, but it was hard not to feel the weight of his authority pressing into the room like a tangible force. It was like he was born to lead or something. I did not know how to explain it, but it was like that. 

He did not say a word, he continued eating and in minutes, he was done. He drank some water and stood to his feet, adjusting his suit. His eyes finally fell on me and then he glanced at my full plate.
