KEIRA’s POV

The stifling silence surrounding my dad's office made it hard for me to breathe. My heart thumped in my chest, anticipating what he would say. My anticipation was also mixed with fear. What exactly was it that Calvin wanted?

My father sighed heavily and leaned back in his chair. "Calvin wants the company, Keira. He is not even asking for a share. He wants the whole thing," he said. "He believes he is entitled to it because he is my son."

I frowned. "But I thought you owned the company outright."

My father nodded. "I do. But Calvin thinks he is to inherit every single piece of it."

"Why?" I asked, feeling confused.

"Because he is my son," my father said. "And he thinks he is entitled to everything I have."

I shook my head in disbelief. "That is not fair."

"No, it is not," my father agreed. "But there is more to it than that. I am getting old, Keira. The investors in the company are starting to ask who my successor will be. T
