“Good evening. A package for Miss Renee?"
“Wait, what?" I blurted out too quickly, my gaze sweeping through the room as I stared at the man in front of me.
A wave of déjà vu washed over me as I remembered the last time a delivery man brought me something in Miami. I peered out of the rickety apartment's hallway to see if any of my neighbors were nearby, but the corridor was empty.
Trying to maintain my calm, I gently inquired, "Are you looking for Miss Renee or someone else? You must have knocked on the wrong door and..."
"No, it's written right here." 15c is the apartment number."
He was correct. My apartment door was engraved with the number 15 and a small letter c, and the way the delivery man looked at me, showed that he was confident in what he'd just said.
