Chapter 125
“Gotcha,” I said and took a deep breath. “Come on, up you get.” I helped Eli stand and I held my gun tightly with my free hand. We stood to the side so we were going to be protected slightly by the wall of the elevator and waited to reach the top.
“You ready?” Eli whispered in my ear.
I looked up at him. “Honestly?”
“Honestly.”
“No,” I breathed and the doors opened.
“Well, shit,” Eli coughed and I froze when I looked out of the elevator. About 10 agents were waiting for us, guns aimed. “I know we’re good and all that, but I’m already shot and there’s a hell of a lot more of them than us.”
“Drop your guns,” an agent ordered.
“I don’t really want to,” I said.
“Drop your fucking guns!”
“Daisy,” Eli said quietly. “We’re not getting through them.”
“I know that, but that doesn’t mean I want to put down my damn gun.”
“Now!” Another agent yelled and I sighed when Eli took the gun from my hands.
