Hope sighed as she picked up her ringing phone, wondering who was calling her. She gasped as she saw the caller ID, her heart beating. The last time she had spoken to Olivia, she had begged the girl to call her if she had anything to tell her about Jared.

She had debated calling her when she heard of the scene she had caused at Chris’s funeral and had only refrained from doing that because it was obvious the poor girl was strained from missing her son, and she didn’t want to add to her troubles.

She feared she might end up saying something stupid which would hurt both of them. She might call the girl, and in the course of thinking she was consoling the girl, she might tell her to forget Jared and move on.

She was sure that was the last thing Olivia would appreciate hearing from her, so it was better for her not to have called.
