Chapter 170. White Wolf!
Zayne sat on his haunches as his head whipped around, looking and zoning in on the slightest movements he caught from time to time, which were only the shadows of the night.
The whisk of a tree branch, the flutter of a bird landing, fireflies that dance around, the rustling of leaves. Goddess, what should he do? He could not just leave and go back without knowing.
Zayne decided to try one more thing; he would retrace his steps because he figured that there was a chance with the last speed Aragorn picked up back there, he could have missed something.
He would take his time, trackback, and return home if he still did not find her. Goddess, how far did he reach with all that running? It felt like he had been running for hours since he spotted the white wolf by the lake just outside his community.
He was confident he was on the other side of town right now or, who knows, maybe as far as another wolf community.
