Theo's POV
Harper watches them go, then looks back at me with that grin she wears when she thinks she’s won something.
“They’re scared of me,” she says, sweet and satisfied.
I don’t respond. There’s no point.
Instead, I rise to my feet and lift her into my arms. She doesn’t resist, she never does when I decide we’re done. Her arms loop around my neck, and her legs cling to my waist as I carry her through the restaurant, past all the people pretending not to watch.
Out in the cool night air, I set her down just long enough to climb onto the bike. Then I pull her up and slide her in front of me, her back pressed to my chest.
