Chapter 61
Mason’s POV
My fingers tap rhythmically against the edge of the desk, the sound quiet but constant. Across from me, Nathan is muttering under his breath while shuffling through a thick stack of paperwork, swearing every few minutes as something else catches his attention or irritates him. He looks up from the pile with a sigh that’s almost theatrical and grumbles about the sheer overload of everything that still needs to be done.
But my thoughts aren’t on the work. Not really. They’re elsewhere.
“It doesn’t take this long to grab a piece of paper,” I mutter, my voice low but pointed.
Nathan looks at me with a sharp glance, then exhales again, this time slower. “If he’s gone to her...” He stops for a moment and shakes his head before turning his gaze toward the ceiling like he’s asking some higher power for patience
