Valerie Will POV

A relieved sigh escaped my lips when the doctor told us that Jordan was going to be okay. Initially, I thought he came bearing bad news from the way he looked at us after he stepped out of the ER.

Jordan wasn’t conscious but the doctor said that the surgery went smoothly. He was going to be awake in a few hours.

After the doctor left, I turned to Patrick. “I told you everything was going to be okay,” I said with a wide smile plastered across my face.

Patrick laughed softly. “Yeah ....I should have listened to you. I was scared for nothing.” He said, rubbing the back of his head.

“So now, we just have to wait until he’s conscious and stable.”

He nodded. “Yeah. So while we wait, we can talk about other stuff, right?”

My breath hitched. “Other stuff like what?”

Did he magically find out about what I did?

He fixed his narrowed gaze on me. “Why do you look so nervous?” He asked, letting out a sigh
